1 Photovoltaic connectors should ensure excellent conductivity, with contact resistance not exceeding 0.35 milliohms.
2 They must provide sufficient safety to protect solar cell components. Given the often harsh environments and climates where solar energy equipment operates, connectors should be waterproof, high-temperature resistant, anti-corrosive, and offer high insulation. They should achieve a protection level of IP68.
3 The structure of solar connectors should be firm and reliable, with male and female connectors that, when properly inserted, should exhibit a connection force of at least 80N. For a 4mm² cable, the MC4 connector should not exceed a maximum temperature of 105°C while carrying a 39A current. The MC4/H4 connector, a single-core male and female connector, offers advantages such as excellent sealing, convenient insertion, and ease of maintenance and repair.
When selecting a plug, it’s crucial to focus on product quality, including the size and material thickness of the internal metal conductor, its elasticity, and coating to ensure it can handle large currents and maintain good contact. The plastic shell of the plug should have a smooth surface without cracks, and the interface must be well-sealed. During installation, avoid exposing component connectors to sunlight and rain to prevent aging, internal corrosion, increased contact resistance, and potential ignition, all of which can reduce system efficiency or cause fire hazards.
The installation and crimping of photovoltaic connectors are critical. Professional crimping tools should be used, and engineering installation personnel should receive proper training on crimping operations before starting construction on photovoltaic power plants.
