Does an SPD need a breaker?

It is recommended that SPDs be connected via a circuit breaker that is appropriately rated, rather than directly into the main lugs of the panel. In cases where circuit breakers are not feasible or not available, a fused disconnect switch should be utilized to connect to the lines and enable easy servicing of the SPD.
